Roof replacement & FORTIFIED

Build your next roof stronger.

A new roof is an opportunity to improve how your home stands up to severe weather. Ask about the FORTIFIED Roof standard before work begins.

What makes a roof FORTIFIED?

FORTIFIED is a voluntary construction standard developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). Its roof requirements address vulnerable details, including roof edges, roof-deck attachment and water intrusion when roof covering is lost.

Work must meet the applicable standard and be documented through the evaluation process for IBHS designation. Plan with your contractor and a qualified evaluator before construction begins.

Repair work or Roof Maxx treatment does not automatically earn a FORTIFIED designation. Grant selection, insurance discounts and designation are not guaranteed. Requesting help here does not enroll you with an evaluator.
